Ghent University, Belgium

Carlos Andres Palacio is a Member of the Solid State Group (GES) of the Universidad de Antioquia (Colombia) since 1998. One year after completing his B.S. degree in physics from Universidad de Antioquia in 2002, in subjects related to Mössbauer spectroscopy, Palacio obtained a grant from the Ghent University in Belgium to perform his Ph.D. degree in topics related to positron annihilation spectroscopy. After working in the construction of an accelerator for positrons, his work was devoted to investigate some effects on polymers of low-energy implanted positrons. In 2008, he received his Ph.D. degree in physical sciences. Immediately after his Ph.D. degree, Palacio was hired in a private company that is specialized in developing software for the healthcare sector, and still working there. However, in addition to this job, Carlos has been able to pursue his science work in parallel to his daily activities.
