Ernst Peter Stephan
E. P. Stephan obtained a Ph.D. degree in mathematics (1975) and a Habilitation degree of mathematics (1984) both at the Technical University Darmstadt, Germany. From 1983 to 1988, he worked as an Associate Professor at the School of Mathematics, Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, Ga, USA. In addition, from 1988 to 1989, he worked as a Full Professor at the School of Mathematics, Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, Ga, USA. Since 1989, Stephan works as a Full Professor (C4) of mathematics at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Institute for Applied Mathematics, Leibniz Universität Hannover. Moreover, he was an Honorary Visiting Professor at the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia (1993–1995), and he has been an Honorary Professor, Universidad del Norte, Barranquilla, Colombia (since 2007). He made numerous research stays at well-known universities, for example, Ecole Polytechnique, Paris-Palaiseau, France, Carnegie-Mellon University, Pittsburgh, USA, Institute for Physical Science and Technology, University of Maryland, USA, University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia, Australian National University, Canberra, Australia, and Universidad de Concepción, Concepción, Chile.
