Dessislava Kochloukova was born in Sofia, Bulgaria. She obtained her undergraduate and M.S. degrees in mathematics from Sofia University, Sofia, Bulgaria, and completed her Ph.D. degree in mathematics at University of Cambridge, Cambridge, UK in 1998. After short postdoctoral studies in Cambridge and Campinas, she joint the Department of Mathematics at University of Campinas (UNICAMP), Campinas, SP, Brazil in 2001. Her main interests are in the area of applications of homological methods in group theory (more specifically homological finiteness properties of groups FPm, Sigma theory, homology and cohomology of groups, Bredon homology, groups actings on trees and CW-complexes, pro-p and profinite groups, and limit groups); in addition, she has some results about homological methods for Lie and Hopf algebras.
