Antonello Gavazzi

Antonello Gavazzi received a degree in medicine and surgery from the University of Pavia (1966-1972). He specialized in cardiology from 1972 to 1975 and in respiratory physiopatology from 1985 to 1988 at the same university. From 1974 till 1999, he served as an Assistant Cardiologist at the Division of Cardiology of the Istituto di Ricovero e Cura a Carattere Scientifico Policlinico S. Matteo of Pavia (I). Since 1999, he serves as the Head of the Division of Cardiology, Cardiovascular Department, Ospedali Riuniti of Bergamo (I). He has more than 250 publications in national and better known international journals. He frequently appeared as a speaker at national and international meetings. He served as a Member of the ANMCO "Associazione Nazionale Medici Cardiologi Ospedalieri" (Hospital Cardiologists National Association) and Member of the Editorial Board of the Giornale Italiano di Cardiologia (1993-1997). Since 2000, he works as a Consulting Editor for myocardial and pericardial diseases of the Italian Heart Journal. Since 2006, he is a Member of the International Scientific Board of the Journal of Cardiovascular Medicine. Since 1993, he serves as a Member of the ANMCO Heart Failure Task Force. In 1995-1999, he worked as a National Coordinator of the Committee for the Italian Guidelines on Heart Failure. Since 1997, he is appointed Fellow of the ANMCO, since 2007 a Member of the ANMCO Scientific Committee, since 2003, a Member of the Experts Board of the Italian Ministry of Health for Continous Medical Education (ECM). In 2000-2005, he served as a Member of the ESC Working Group on Heart Failure and in 2005-6 he was elected member of the Clinical Board of the ESC Heart Failure Association. Since 1991, he holds the position of a Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology. In 1999 and in 2003-2005, he was invited to join, as a Member, the Update Task Force on ESC Guidelines for Heart Failure.
