Ruijin Shao

University of Gothenburg, Sweden

Dr. Shao is currently an assistant professor in the Institute of Neuroscience and Physiology, The Sahlgrenska Academy at Gothenburg University, Sweden. Dr. Shao trained as a cellular and molecular biologist and received his PhD in 2005 from Gothenburg University. The focus of Dr. Shao’s current research is to understand how steroid hormone receptors interact in relation to Fallopian tube physiology and pathology. One of his current research areas is to identify molecules involved in the development of tubal ectopic pregnancy at the various levels, using multi-disciplinary approaches that include human tissue analysis, molecular biology, pathophysiology and animal modelling. His research is also being focused on the dynamics of reproductive systems, how these are influenced by environmental factors, and links with metabolism and disease risk in humans. He has published 29 scientific papers and been peer reviewer for 16 scientific journals (Science Translational Medicine, Human Reproduction, Expert Review of Obstetrics & Gynecology, and Apoptosis).
