Rekha C. Patel received her Ph.D. degree (1987) from Indian Institute of Science, India. She served as a Research Associate at Case Western Reserve University, USA, from 1987 to 1991. From 1991 to 1998, she joined Cleveland Clinic’s Lerner Research Institute, where she began her independent career as a Project Scientist. In 1998, she moved to University of South Carolina as an Assistant Professor, where she currently works as an Associate Professor. She is interested in regulation of signaling pathways that control cell fate in response to cellular stress. Her research involves study of protein-protein interactions between interferon-induced protein kinase PKR and its activator PACT. Her interests also include regulation of gene expression pertaining to apoptosis and cancer biology.
