Arved Weimann works as Professor of surgery at Hannover Medical School, Hannover, Germany. Since 1999, Weimann served as Head of the Department of General Surgery and Clinical Nutrition at St. George Hospital, Leipzig, Germany. He received his medical degree from the University of Heidelberg, Heidelberg, Germany and completed his residency in surgery and fellowship in gastrointestinal and hepatopancreatobiliary surgery at Hannover Medical School. Weimann is an expert in surgical metabolism and nutritional support in high-risk patients with major abdominal surgery and critical illness. From 2008 to 2010, he served as President of the German Society for Clinical Nutrition (DGEM), Member of the working groups in the Guidelines for Enteral and Parenteral Nutrition: Surgery of the European Society for Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism (ESPEN), President of the Local Organizing Committee of the ESPEN Congress (2013) in Leipzig, Germany.
