Elaine Hatanaka received the Pharmacy and Biochemistry degree and the Ph.D. degree at Pharmacy-Clinical Biochemistry from the University of São Paulo (USP), São Paulo, SP, Brazil, in 2000 and 2005, respectively. In 2005, Dr. Hatanaka joined the Department of Physiology and Biophysics, University of São Paulo as a Postdoctoral Researcher and worked there until late 2007 and then moved to the Cruzeiro do Sul University as a Research and Professor. Since 2007, Hatanaka has been working with Institute of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences (ICAFE) Cruzeiro do Sul University, Brazil. She receives financial support from Fundação de Amparo a Pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo (FAPESP), Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico (CNPq) and Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES). She is mainly interested in biochemistry of immune cells, diabetes, wound healing, and exercise.
