Francesc Formiga was born in Arbúcies, Spain, in 1960. He was graduated in Medicine and Surgery in the 1983, from the Central University of Barcelona; and received PhD degree (cum laude) in 1995. He was specialist in Internal Medicine and currently is the director of care program for older people in the Bellvitge University Hospital. He got the Master of Geriatrics and Gerontology (University Autonoma of Barcelona, 2000) and the certificate of Competence in Geriatrics and Gerontology Clinic by Methodology and Objective Structured Clinical Evaluation (Barcelona IES, 2003). He is the Editor of the Journal of Geriatrics and Gerontology Spanish Society (Revista Española de Geriatría y Gerontología). Actually he is member of the working groups of dementias and falls of the Spanish Society of Geriatrics and Gerontology, and the coordinator of the Internal Medicine Task Force Heart Failure group of the Spanish Society of Internal Medicine.
