Alexander Riad

Alexander Riad was born in Ahaus, Germany, in 1976. He received the M.D. degree (summa cum laude) from Universitätsmedizin Berlin, Germany, in 2006. From 2005 to 2010, he worked as an Assistant Doctor at the Department of Cardiology at the same university. During this time, he served as a Leader of a subproject funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (SFB Transregio 19) on inflammatory cardiomyopathy. Since 2010, he works as a Consultant and Research Group Leader at the Department of Cardiology, Universitätsmedizin Greifswald, Germany. He is mainly interested in innate immunity and heart failure, especially the role of innate immune receptors on the development and progression of left ventricular dysfunction. He was recipient of the Young Investigator Award of the German Society of Hypertension in 2002. He was nominated for the Young Investigator Award of the European society of Cardiology in 2005. He is a Member of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC), the Heart Failure Association of the ESC, the German Society of Cardiology, and the German Society of Internal Medicine.
