Peilin Chen obtained his B.S. degree in chemistry from the National Taiwan University (1990) and a Ph.D. degree from the University of California, Irvine (1998). He jointed Professor Gabor Somorjai’s group in the University of California, Berkeley as a Postdoctoral Fellow in 1999 before he became a faculty member in Research Center for Applied Sciences, Academia Sinica in 2001, where he currently serves as the Deputy Director. Dr. Chen has published more than 80 papers and gave about 20 invited speeches worldwide. He is the recipient of several prestigious awards in Taiwan including Research Award for Junior Research Investigators, Academia Sinica (2007), Ta-You Wu Memorial Award, National Research Council (2007) and Career Development Award, Academia Sinica (2009). His research interests include the development of super-resolution optical microscopy, fabrication of nanostructures, and applications of nanobiotechnology.
