Punit Kohli was born in Delhi, India. He received an engineering degree from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi in 1993. He obtained his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of South Australia and Michigan State University both in chemistry in 1995 and 2000, respectively. He was Postdoc with Professor Charles R. Martin at the University of Florida before joining the faculty in the Department of Chemistry, Southern Illinois University Carbondale in 2004. Kohli is recipient of NSF CAREER Award in 2008. His research interests are primarily in the synthesis, characterization, and applications of novel nanomaterials including the application of nano- and microtubes for lithography and patterning, chemical and biochemical sensors, and photoinduced charge transfer studies and device fabrication.
