Shashwat S. Banerjee
Shashwat S. Banerjee was born in Mumbai, India, in 1977. He received his B.S. degree in chemistry from University of Mumbai (India) in 1997, M.S. degree in chemistry from University of Mumbai (India) in 1999, and Ph.D. degree in chemistry from Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT; formerly UDCT), India in 2003. Dr. Banerjee did postdoctoral research from National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan and Washington State University (WSU) in the field of synthesis and application of multifunctional nanosystems for drug delivery and bone implants.” He is presently working with Piramal Healthcare Research Ltd., Mumbai since October 2010 as a Scientist and his current research is on designing novel nanodiagnostics and nanotherapeutics. Specific research areas include designing, synthesis, and fabrication of multifunctional nanoparticles for cancer cell targeting, imaging, and drug delivery. In addition, he is also involved in synthesis of polymeric prodrug conjugates (PEGylation) to enhance aqueous solubility and bioavailability. Dr. Banerjee’s research has resulted in 30 scientific articles, including 28 in research journals and 2 issued patents. His research has been published in prominent research journals such as Chemistry of Material, Nanoscale, Nanotechnology, Langmuir, Acta Biomaterialia, J. Nanoparticle Research, J. Hazardous Materials, Chemosphere, J. Colloid Interface Science. His work has been cited over 200 times and his current h index is 11. Dr. Banerjee has been recently nominated in Marquis Who’s Who in America (2010). He has received first rank in M.S. from G.N. Khalsa College, Mumbai University. He is also the recipient of the G. D. Gokhale Charitable Trust Fellowship (1999-2003) and Ratan Tata Fellowship. He is the reviewer for more than 10 international scientific journals.
