P. K. Datta
P. K. Datta graduated in aerospace engineering in 1968 with B.Tech. (with honors) from I.I.T. Kharagpur, India. He received his M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in aerospace engineering in 1969 and 1972, respectively. Later, he joined as an Assistant Professor at I.I.T. Kharagpur and got elevated to the post of a Professor in 1984. He received prestigious Royal Society/Nuffield Foundation Award as a Fellow to work at the Institute of Sound and Vibration Research, University of Southampton, UK, from 1978 to 1979. He served as a Visiting Professor in Iraq for two separate terms under Foreign Assignment of Government of India. He was invited to University of Tottori, University of Osaka Prefecture, and Ryukoku University in Japan for guest lectures. He worked as a Visiting Professor at the Department of Aerospace Engineering, Chosun University, Korea, from 2009 to 2010, supported by Korea Research Foundation. He visited several countries around the world to attend international conferences. His area of research in aerospace engineering concerns about aerospace structures and problems on dynamic instability, an important aspect of aerospace structural design. He has published over 76 papers in international journals and over 55 papers in the proceedings of conferences. He is a Member of the editorial boards of several international journals. He received the Excellence in Aerospace Education Award for the year 2005 conferred by the Aeronautical Society of India.
