Abdel Salam H. Makhlouf

Abdel Salam Hamdy Makhlouf is an Associate Professor at the Department of Surface Technology and Corrosion, Central Metallurgical R&D Institute, Egypt. Dr. Makhlouf gained extensive research experience in materials science and engineering and physical and electrochemistry. He has several ongoing research projects with international institutions covering advanced materials, nuclear fuel synthesis, and materials corrosion/coatings and their properties and performance. Makhlouf was awarded several national and international prizes and certificates of recognition for his contribution to coatings technology. In 2006, he was awarded the National Prize in Advanced Science and Technology and the Prize of Excellence in Surface Technology and Corrosion. He was also awarded several prestigious fellowships in USA and Germany such as Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship for Experienced Researchers at Max Planck Institute, Fulbright Fellowship, NSF Fellowship, and DOE Fellowship at BSU. Makhlouf was involved in many external professional activities including reviewing papers for 22 scientific journals, editing books and conference proceedings, and reviewing projects for Fulbright Visiting Scholar. He is an invited Evaluator Expert in EU FP6 and FP7. He chaired a number of technical sessions in international conferences. He was the Chairman and Organizer of the symposium Corrosion and Coatings Challenges in Industry, American Chemical Society, Boise, in 2007. He is an active member of several international professional societies and a member of editorial board of six international journals. Makhlouf authored and coauthored about 96 papers and 4 book chapters published in UK and USA. He is an Editor of three books: High Performance Coatings for Automotive and Aerospace Industries, Nova Science Publishers, New York, Ceramic Coatings and Surface Engineering of Materials for Industrial Applications, Bentham Science Publishers Ltd, and Nanocoatings and Ultra Thin-Films, Woodhead Publishing Limited.
