Flora Tzelepis holds B.S. with honors and Ph.D. degrees. She is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow with the Health Behaviour Research Group at the University of Newcastle, Newcastle, NSW, Australia. Dr. Tzelepis's experience includes tobacco control, with a particular focus on increasing successful smoking cessation and reducing exposure to environmental tobacco smoke. She conducted a large randomised controlled trial of 1,562 smokers that used an innovative proactive recruitment approach to offer smokers telephone counselling from the New South Wales Quitline and assessed quit rates at short-term and long-term followups. She is also the Chair of the Priority Research Centre for Health Behaviour (PRCHB) Papers Working Group that aims to increase the number and quality of publication outputs. She has also worked on research that assessed the quit rates of those who declined to participate in a smoking cessation trial, the public’s tobacco-related knowledge, attitudes and practices, tobacco smoking policies, and programs in drug and alcohol agencies and pharmacists’ practices with nicotine replacement therapy and bupropion purchasers. Dr. Tzelepis has 35 published peer-reviewed research papers.
