Hirofumi Ochi with M.D. and Ph.D. degrees was born on July 10, 1968. He serves as a Senior Assistant Professor of neurology at Ehime University Graduate School of Medicine, Ehime, Japan. He graduated from Kyushu University in 1993 and received his Ph.D. degree in immunology from the Graduate School of Medical Sciences, Kyushu University, Fukuoka, Japan in 2000. His research is focused on the immune modulation of autoimmunity and inflammatory diseases. He is developing his own research area in multiple sclerosis immunology and investigating potential approaches that may lead to new therapies for multiple sclerosis. Specifically, he is investigating the role of inducible immune regulatory cells in immuno-pathogenesis of multiple sclerosis.
