Carlos Marcelo da Silva Figueredo

Carlos Marcelo S Figueredo has been working as an Associate Professor at Rio de Janeiro State University, Brazil, since 2000. Figueredo received his Ph.D. degree from the Karolinska Institute, Stockholm, Sweden, studying the neuthophil behavior in patients with chronic periodontitis. His research focused on the analysis of enzyme activity and inflammatory biomarkers involved in the tissue destruction around teeth. Figueredo’s recent publications have questioned whether there are significant differences between chronic and aggressive periodontitis that could justify differences in the treatment.
