Stefan Liebner is a Junior Research Group Leader at the Institute of Neurology (Edinger Institute), Medical School, Goethe University Frankfurt since January 2005. From January 2001 to December 2004, he held a postdoctoral position at the Instituto FIRC (Fondazione Italiana per la Ricerca sul Cancro) Oncologia Molecolare (IFOM), Milan, Italy, under the supervision of Professor Dr. Elisabetta Dejana, from October 1995 to October 2000, he was a Ph.D. student at the Institute for Pathology, Eberhard Karls University, Tübingen, Tübingen, Germany under the supervision of Professor Dr. H. Wolburg, from November to December 1997, he was a Visiting Researcher at the Department of Cell Biology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Kyoto, Kyoto, Japan, from August to September 1996, he was aVisiting Researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Physiological and Clinical Research, Bad Nauheim, Germany, and, from 1990 to 1995, he did studies of biology at the TU Darmstadt and the University of Tübingen, with Professor Dr. H. Wolburg supervising his diploma thesis. In 2009, he received the Basic Research Award of the “Verein zur Förderung der Neurologischen Wissenschaften, Frankfurt am Main e.V.” He was also awarded the Marie Curie Individual Fellowship, in April 2001 to March 2003. Since 2006 he serves as a Faculty Member of the Excellence Cluster Cardio-Pulmonary System (ECCPS)—Member of the Committee “Training and Education.”
