Kavita R. Hegde
Kavita Hegde, M.B.B.S, M.S. (ophthalmology), and Ph.D. degrees, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Natural Sciences at Coppin State University in Baltimore, MD, USA. In addition to her interest in clinical ophthalmology, her primary research interest is in the field of biochemistry and molecular biology of the eye, with special emphasis on the implications of oxidative stress in the pathobiology of aging and diabetic eye diseases, particularly of the lens and retina. She is well recognized for her studies on the pathogenesis of cataract formation as well as its pharmacological prevention and treatment by use of various antioxidants. She has published more than 25 papers so far. She is a well sought after reviewer for many reputed journals. She has also served as a moderator of several symposia at vision research conferences.
