Annie Vinter was born in France in 1957. She received the Ph.D. degree in psychology from the University of Geneva (Switzerland) in 1983. From 1983 to 1985, she worked as a Research Fellow at the Stella Maris Scientific Institut of Pisa (Italy), and then as an assistant Professor at the University of Geneva (1985-1989). She has been a Professor of developmental psychology at the Université de Franche-Comté (France) from 1989 to 1992, and she has moved to the Université de Bourgogne (France) since 1992. Her research is directed to understanding developmental processes especially as it applies to sensorimotor and representational development. She has studied handwriting and drawing development. She is currently particularly interested in drawing skills in visually impaired children and in the relationships between implicit learning processes and development.
