Ion N. Mihailescu

Ion N. Mihailescu has more than 40 years of experience with laser physics and laser interactions. He is the author of 7 books, 4 chapter books, more than 400 scientific publications with 2096 citations, H index 22, and 9 patents. He is a Senior Research Scientist First Degree at the National Institute for Lasers, Plasma, and Radiation Physics (INFLPR) and a Professor at the Faculty of Physics, University of Bucharest. He holds a B.S. degree in nuclear physics and optics, spectroscopy, and plasma physics and a Ph.D. degree in laser physics from the University of Bucharest. Mihailescu was the First Laureate of the Galileo Galilei Award of the International Commission for Optics (ICO) for outstanding contributions to the field of optics. He is a holder of the Constantin Miculescu Prize of the Romanian Academy for contributions to Laser Interactions Physics and Applications. He acts as a Reviewer for 27 international scientific journals. Mihailescu's research fields are laser interactions, surface physics, thin solid films, plasma generation and diagnostics by lasers, biocompatible and bioactive coatings, and very hard layers.
