Manel del Valle received his Ph.D. degree in chemistry in 1992 from the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona, Barcelona, Spain, where he holds a position of Associate Professor in analytical chemistry. He is founding and active Member of the Sensors and Biosensors Group where he is a specialist for instrumentation and electrochemical sensors and biosensors. Currently, he leads research lines of sensor arrays and electronic tongues, as well as the use of electrochemical impedance spectroscopy for biosensing. In the past, he was awarded with the Distinction of the Generalitat de Catalunya for the Promotion of University Research, and currently he holds an ICREA Academia grant. He has authored more than 200 research papers in the field of electrochemical sensors and (co)supervised 16 Ph.D. theses.
