Masataka Kuwana obtained his M.D. and Ph.D. degrees at the Keio University, Tokyo, Japan, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship program at the University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, PA, USA. Kuwana is an Associate Professor of rheumatology at the School of Medicine, Keio University, Tokyo, Japan. He is currently an Active Member of the Scleroderma Research Group sponsored by the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare. He has over 200 publications in peer-reviewed journals. He has served on the Editorial Boards of Arthritis and Rheumatism, Journal of Rheumatology, Modern Rheumatology, Journal of Infectious Disease, and Drugs. His major research interests include vascular and immune aspects of scleroderma and autoantibodies.
