Vladimir Popok was born in Belarus in 1966. He received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Belarusian State University (BSU) in Minsk, Belarus, in 1990 and 1995, respectively. Since 1995, he has been a Researcher at BSU. Between 1999 and 2004, he worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher and then as a Visiting Researcher at the University of Gothenburg (UGOT), Gothenburg, Sweden (on leave from BSU). Then, he continued as an Assistant Professor at UGOT, and he was qualified as an Associate Professor (Docent). Currently, he is an Associate Professor at the Aalborg University in Denmark. He has over 90 peer-reviewed publications including 2 books, 2 invited chapters in books, and several review articles. His main fields of interest are related to studying atomic clusters, cluster-surface interaction, and applications of nanoparticulate systems. He also has a considerable experience in ion implantation of dielectrics and ion-synthesis of metal nanoparticles as well as in the study of optical and electronic properties of metal/dielectric nanocomposites. Scanning probe microscopy is one more area of expertise.
