Ismail Guvenc

Ismail Guvenc received the B.S. degree from the Bilkent University, Ankara, Turkey in 2001, the M.S. degree from the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, NM, USA in 2003, and the Ph.D. degree from the University of South Florida, Tampa, Fla, USA in 2006 (with an Outstanding Dissertation Award from USF Graduate School), all in electrical engineering. He was with the Mitsubishi Electric Research Laboratories in Cambridge, Mass, USA in 2005, and since June 2006, he has been with DOCOMO USA Labs, Palo Alto, Calif, USA working as a research engineer. His recent research interests include femtocells, relay networks, UWB localization, LTE systems, and cognitive radio. Guvenc has published more than 40 conference and journal papers and several standardization contributions for IEEE 802.15 and IEEE 802.16. Dr. Guvenc has served in the technical program committees of over 10 international conferences (e.g., ICC 2008/2009, VTC 2008-S/2009-S, GLOBECOM 2008, WCNC 2009 etc.) and in the organizing committees of ICCCN-2008 (Sponsorship Cochair) and ICCCN-2009 (Local Arrangements Chair). In addition, he coauthored a recent book on ultrawideband position estimation published by Cambridge University Press. Dr. Guvenc has 14 pending U.S. patent applications and is a Member of the IEEE.
