Turgut Öziş obtained his B.S. degree in Mathematics at Ege University, Izmir, Turkey, http://www.ege.edu.tr/, in 1973. He received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees at Brunel University, London, UK, http://www.brunel.ac.uk/, in free and moving boundary problems, under the supervision of Prof. John Crank in February 1981, by acquiring the grant from The Ministry of National Education, Turkey. In late 1982, Öziş moved to what was then Inönü university, Malatya, Turkey, http://www.inonu.edu.tr/, and taught mathematics there and worked as the Head of Mathematics Department until 1991. After that he was persuaded to accept an Associate Professorship position in the Science Faculty of Ege University. In 1992, he was appointed as a Professor of applied mathematics at Ege University, since he has been the Head of Applied Mathematics Group. From 1998 to 2008 he served as the Vice Dean of Science Faculty of Ege University for approximately ten years. He is the author and coauthor of more than 50 articles and he supervised more than 15 Ph.D. theses. His research interests include numerical methods for partial differential equations (both linear and nonlinear), free boundary problems, reaction diffusion problems and numerical heat transfer, two-point boundary value problems for ordinary differential equations, and exact approximate methods for nonlinear systems. Öziş is a member in the editorial boards of three international journals.
