Shinichi Sato

Shinichi Sato was graduated from high school in 1982. He received the M.D. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Tokyo, Tokyo, Japan, in 1989 and 1994, respectively. He has been Research Associate at the Department of Immunology, Duke University Medical Center, Durham, NC, USA (1994–1997), Assistant Professor at the Department of Dermatology, Kanazawa University School of Medicine, Kanazawa, Japan (1997–2002), Associate Professor at the Department of Dermatology, Kanazawa University School of Medicine, Kanazawa, Japan (2002–2004), Professor and Chairman of the Department of Dermatology, Nagasaki University Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, Nagasaki, Japan (2004–2009), and presently Professor and Chairman of the Department of Dermatology, the University of Tokyo, Tokyo, Japan (2009 till present). He obtained in 2003 the Japanese Society for Investigative Dermatology (JSID) Award and in 2005 the Abbott Japan Clinical Rheumatic Disease Award. His scientific interests lie in the field of scleroderma, B lymphocytes, and autoimmunity.
