Blake Peterson received a B.S. degree in chemistry from the University of Nevada, Reno, and a Ph.D. degree in chemistry from UCLA, working with Professor François Diederich. He was a Damon Runyon/Walter Winchell Cancer Research Foundation Postdoctoral Fellow with Professor Gregory Verdine in the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at Harvard University. He previously held academic appointments as an Assistant and Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Penn State University (1998–2007). He joined the Department of Medicinal Chemistry at the University of Kansas as a Regents Distinguished Professor in 2008. His research interests include molecular design, organic synthesis, medicinal chemistry, and chemical biology, with emphasis on anticancer agents, antiviral agents, molecular probes, fluorophores, and new approaches for the delivery of drugs and biological therapeutics.
