Mario Gaudino

Mario Gaudino received a Medical degree (cum Laude) in 1994 from the Catholic University, Rome, Italy. He passed the Italian Medical Licensing Examination in 1995 and the United States Medical Licensing Examination in 1997. He also completed a Cardiac Surgery Residency from 1994 to 1999 in the Catholic University, Rome (Chief: Prof. Gianfederico Possati). Gaudino served as a Fellow in 1995 (1/2–30/6) in the European Homograft Bank, Bruxelles; a Visiting Surgeon from Nov 1999 to Nov 2000 in the Department of Cardiac Surgery, San Camillo de Lellis Hospital, Chieti (Chief: Prof. AM Calafiore) from Jan 2001 till now; a Staff Surgeon in the Department of Cardiac Surgery, Catholic University, Rome (Chief: Prof. Gianfederico Possati). He is a member in European Association of Cardio-thoracic Surgery, Società Italiana di Chirurgia Cardiaca, The Society of Thoracic Surgeons, and the Editorial Board of ISRN Surgery. He has also worked as a Guest Reviewer for Circulation, Heart, Kidney International, Italian Heart Journal, The Annals of Thoracic Surgery, The Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, The European Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, The Journal of Cardiac Surgery, The European Heart Journal, Journal of Pharmacological Sciences, Archives of Medical Sciences, International Journal of cardiology, Cardiology, Journal of Medical Case Report, and Journal of Zhejiang University. His research main topics include arterial conduits for coronary artery bypass surgery; less invasive coronary surgery; strategies for reduction of the neurological risk in cardiac surgery; systemic effect of cardiopulmonary bypass temperature; effect of different atrial incisions on postoperative arrhythmia; genetic modulation of postoperative outcome; left ventricular mass regression after aortic valve surgery: time course, determinants and prognostic implications.
