Hoon Cheol Park

Hoon Cheol Park was born in Seoul, South Korea, in 1962. He received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in aerospace engineering from Seoul National University, South Korea, in 1985 and 1987, respectively, and Ph.D. degree from the University of Maryland at College Park, Md, USA, in 1994. His Ph.D. work is related with the development of a nine-node shell element with less locking effect. He joined the Department of Aerospace Engineering, Konkuk University in Seoul, South Korea, in 1995, and he has been a Professor at the Department of Advanced Technology Fusion since 2006. His major research areas are application of the finite element method to smart structures, artificial muscle actuators based on smart materials, and biomimetics. He has been a member of American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) since 1995, a Member of the International Advisory Committee of International Conference of Intelligent Unmanned Systems (ICIUS) since 2007, a Member of the Editorial Board for the Journal of Bionic Engineering since 2007, a Member of the International Society of Bionic Engineering since 2009, and a Member of the Editorial Board for the Korean Society of Composite Materials since 2000. He also organized the International Symposium of Nature-Inspired Technology in 2009 serving as the Chair.
