Ashkan Ashrafi
0000-0001-7073-0883Ashkan Ashrafi was born in Tehran, Iran, in 1969. He received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in electronics engineering from K. N. Toosi University of Technology, Tehran, Iran, and the M.S.E. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Alabama, Huntsville, in 1991, 1995, 2003, and 2006, respectively (all with honors). He served as a Faculty Member and Associate Chair of Electrical Engineering at Azad University, Tehran Central Branch, Tehran, Iran from 1997 to 2001 where he was also the IEEE Student Branch Counselor. He also served as a Visiting Assistant Professor at the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department of the University of Alabama in Huntsville from 2006 to 2007. He is currently an Assistant Professor at the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department of San Diego State University, San Diego, CA where he is the Director of the Signal Processing Research Group. His research interests are circuits and systems, digital signal processing, and direct digital frequency synthesizers. Dr. Ashrafi is the recipient of the 2005 Iliana Martin Chittur Outstanding Graduate Student Award and the 2005 National Engineer’s Week Outstanding Graduate Student Award from the College of Engineering, University of Alabama in Huntsville. He has published more than 25 technical papers in well-known journals and conferences.
