Jean-Pierre Vartanian

Jean-Pierre Vartanian obtained the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in virology from Pasteur Institute and Université Paris Diderot, Paris, France, in 1989 and 1882, respectively. He earned the Habilitation à Diriger les Recherches, a degree that permits french research scientists to mentor Ph.D. students, in 2002. He has worked at Institut Pasteur as Chargé de recherche (1997), Head of Practical Courses of Fundamental Virology (2007), and Chef de Laboratoire (since 2008). Vartanian is the Academic Editor for PLos One since 2009 and the Reviewer of Journal of Virology, Journal of Molecular Biology, Journal of General Virology, Journal of Biological Chemistry, Research in Virology, PLos ONE, Hepatology, AIDS, and others. He has expertise in the areas of RNA and DNA viruses, retroviruses, virus evolution, genetic editing, cytidine deaminases APOBEC, adenosine deaminases ADAR, and cancer genomics.
