Kamran Ghaedi was born in Isfahan, Iran, in 1968. He received his B.S. degree in the field of biology from University of Isfahan (1989) and his M.S. degree in clinical biochemistry from Isfahan University of Medical Sciences (1993). He perused his studies towards getting a Ph.D. degree from Kyushu University (Fujiki’s laboratory) in the field of molecular cell genetics (1999). Ghaedi engaged in isolation and characterization of several Chinese hamster ovary cells defective in peroxisome assembly and biogenesis. He cloned PEX3 and PEX7 genes and published several high reputed papers in this regard. After getting his Ph.D. degree, he was hired as a Postdoctoral Researcher in the field of molecular biology by Japan Science and Technology (JST) in Kyushu University (Fujiki’s laboratory) for two years. Ghaedi conducted his studies in the same laboratory as Postdoctoral Fellow (JSPS) and Senior Postdoctoral Researcher (JST) for more 4 years. He came back to Iran after 10 years, working in the field of peroxisome biogenesis in mammals with a career in the field of molecular cell biology. Since his coming, Ghaedi was hired as a Faculty Member in the University of Isfahan, Biology Department and started his collaboration with Royan Institute for Animal Biotechnology, where he established a research group (Department of Cell and Molecular Biology) to unravel the involvement of genetic factors required for peroxisome biogenesis in neural differentiation of embryonic stem cells. He has collaborated with Dr.Nasr Esfahani in production of recombinant proteins like t-PA. He has supervised several projects and has published numerous international publications. Ghaedi is in the editorial board of Research in Pharmaceutical Sciences and International Journal of Fertility & Sterility.
