Mondher Toumi holds M.D. and M.S. degrees in biological sciences and Ph.D. degree in economic sciences. After having worked in the Laboratory of Pharmacology at the University of Marseille, Toumi joined the Public Health Department. After a successful career in the industry, Toumi was appointed Professor at the Department of Complex Decision Sciences and Health Policies, Lyon I University in February, 2009, and he conducts the first European University Diploma of Market Access (www.EMAUD.org). Toumi’s research area focuses on modelling decision making and negotiation processes into theory of complex systems. Complex system theory is a growing field of research that is just emerging in life sciences. Apart from his academic background, he worked in the industry R&D (1995–2008) and was appointed in 2000 Global Vice President at Lundbeck A/S, a pharmaceutical company specialized in CNS, and was in charge of economics, pricing, market access, epidemiology, risk management, and competitive intelligence. He has more than 50 publications in international peer-reviewed journals and contributed to many books. In 2008, Toumi created Creativ-Ceutical, an international consulting firm dedicated to support health industries and health authorities for strategic decision making. Toumi is also the Vice President of the French Society of Health Economics (SFES) and the President of the International Society for Systems Sciences in Health Care (ISSSHC). He is a member of various boards of directors of the health industry, and he is dedicated to structure organization, operational strategy, and performance management of organizations. Toumi is also an Advisor of the Director of ITC BAS RAS (Innovation Technology Center BioActive Substances Russian Academy of Science).
