Robert Spall

Robert Spall is a Professor in the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department of Utah State University, Logan, Utah, USA, where he has been employed since 1996. Previously, he was an Assistant Professor at the University of South Alabama (1991–1996) and a Research Scientist at High Technology Corporation (1987–1991). He holds a Ph.D. degree in mechanical engineering and mechanics from Old Dominion University and M.S. and B.S. degrees in mechanical engineering from Clarkson University. His teaching interests are in the areas of thermal/fluid design, computational fluid dynamics, and numerical methods. His research expertise spans the areas of applied computational fluid dynamics, swirling flows and vortex breakdown, buoyancy-driven flows, and environmental flows. He has authored over 100 refereed technical publications in these and related areas. He is a Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Virginia and was elected as a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers in 2004.
