Andrea Poretti, a holder of the M.D. degree, serves as a Swiss board-certified pediatrician with an extensive training in pediatric neurology and experience in pediatric neuroimaging. He earned his medical degree from the University of Bern, Bern, Switzerland. Dr. Poretti completed a residency in pediatrics and a fellowship in pediatric neurology at University Children’s Hospital Zurich, Zurich, Switzerland. In August 2010, he moved to Baltimore, Md, USA, to continue his research activity at the Division of Pediatric Radiology, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. In his research, Poretti uses conventional and advanced MR techniques to study pediatric cerebellar disorders and correlates neuroimaging findings with neurodevelopmental outcome. His fields of interest include pediatric cerebellar disorders, brain malformations, pediatric neurometabolic/neurodegenerative disorders, and the application of advanced MR techniques such as DTI and SWI to the pediatric brain. Poretti is the author/coauthor of about 50 peer-reviewed scientific papers and of about 20 book chapters. He is a coauthor of the book “Cerebellar Disorders in Children” edited by E. Boltshauser and J. Schmahmann. He served as an invited reviewer for more than 10 international scientific journals.
