Frederic Truchetet was born in Dijon, France, in 1951. He received the M.A. degree in physics from Dijon University, France, in 1973, and the Ph.D. degree in electronics from the same university in 1977. For two years, he joined Thomson-CSF as a Research Engineer and for 4 years as the Head of Laboratory for Electronics, Image, and Computing (Le2i) of Université de Bourgogne. He serves currently as a Professor in Le2i, UMR CNRS 5158, as an Expert/Advisor for French Ministry of Research, and as a Vice President of Université de Bourgogne. His research interests are focused on image processing for artificial vision inspection and particularly on wavelet transform, multiresolution edge detection, and image compression. He has (co)authored more than 200 international publications including 52 journal papers and three text books, and he holds four patents. He is a Member of SPIE, a Former Chairman of SPIE’s conference on wavelet applications in industrial processing, a Cochairman of SPIE’s conference on Optics, Photonics, and Digital Technologies for Multimedia Applications, and a Member of numerous technical committees of international conferences in the area of computer vision.
