Hengyong Yu is an Associate Professor and Director of the Imaging and Informatics Lab with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Massachusetts Lowell, Lowell, MA. He received his B.S. degree in information science and technology (1998) and computational mathematics (1998), respectively, and his Ph.D. degree in information and communication engineering (2003) from Xi'an Jiaotong University. He was an Instructor and Associate Professor with Hangzhou Dianzi University, a Postdoctoral Fellow and Associate Research Scientist with the University of Iowa, a Research Scientist and the Associate Director of CT Lab with Virginia Tech, and an Assistant Professor with Wake Forest University Health Sciences. His interests include computed tomography and medical image processing. He has authored/coauthored >110 peer-reviewed journal papers with an H-index of 21 according to the web of knowledge. He is the founding Editor in Chief of JSM Biomedical Imaging Data Papers, serves as an editorial board member for Signal Processing, Journal of Medical Engineering, CT Theory and Applications, International Journal of Biomedical Engineering and Consumer Health Informatics, and Open Medical Imaging Journal, and he is the Guest Editor of the IEEE-TMI, IEEE Access, and International Journal of Biomedical Imaging. He is a senior member of the IEEE and the IEEE-EMBS and a Member of AAPM and BMES. In 2005, he was honored for an outstanding doctoral dissertation by Xi'an Jiaotong University and received the first prize for a best natural science paper from the Association of Science and Technology of Zhejiang Province. In January 2012, he received an NSF CAREER award for development of CS-based interior tomography.
