Susana E. Jorge-Villar earned a degree in geology from University of Salamanca, Spain, in 1988, and the Ph.D. degree from University of Valladolid, in 2002, with the highest qualification. In 1984, she reached a permanent position as a Lecturer at University of Valladolid, until 1989, when she moved to University of Burgos, and in 1996, she became the Director of the Geodynamic Area at the department and was promoted to be an Assistant Professor. She has been granted by the Spanish Ministry of Educacion y Ciencia, University of Burgos, Royal Society of Chemistry of UK, Charles University (Czech Republic), and the European Science Foundation. From 2004, she is a Member of the UK Astrobiology Society. From 2006, she is a Member of GeoRaman Scientific Committee. She served as a Co-organizer, as a Collaborator, and as a Scientist at the international expedition AdMIREx (Advanced Mobile In Situ Raman Expedition), in 2006, and has participated, as Scientific Member, in the international Expedition AMASE (Arctic Mars Analogue Svalbard Expedition), from 2004 and 2005. She has published more than 50 papers in international journals of recognized prestige and has more than 50 conferences and workshops presentations, some of them as invited talks. She has collaborated and still collaborate with international institutions and Universities, such as Scottish Universities Environmental Research Centre (UK), Center for the Study of Life in the Universe (SETI Institute, USA), University of Aberdeen (UK), British Antarctic Survey (UK), Charles University (Prague, Czech Republic), German Aerospace Center (Germany), University of Leeds (UK), Museum of Manchester, University of Edinburgh and Peterborough, all in UK, and also with the Museum of Burgos (Spain) University of Málaga, CSIC and CENIEH (National Center for the Research in Human Evolution), Spain. She acts as Referee for Journal of Raman spectroscopy, Analytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry, Vibrational Spectroscopy, Analyst, and Spectrochimica Acta, part A.
