Elida B. Castro

Elida B. Castro was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1957. She received the Ph.D. degree in chemistry from the University of La Plata (UNLP), La Plata, Argentina, in 1989. Since 1984, Castro has worked in the Instituto de Investigaciones Fisicoquímicas Teóricas y Aplicadas (INIFTA) of the UNLP. Since 1990, she has been a Research Assistant, a Research Associate, and, presently, an Independent Researcher of the National Research Council of Science and Technology (CONICET). Her scientific work has always been related to electrochemistry topics, mainly corrosion; dissolution and passivation of metals and alloys; hydrogen embrittlement; electronic and ionic transport properties of passive oxides and oxygen; hydrogen evolution reactions. In the last years, her scientific interest is mainly related to characterization and modeling of electrochemical processes at intercalation material electrodes and rechargeable batteries. She also works on the development of battery management systems (BMSs).She is a Member of the Asociación Argentina de Investigación Fisicoquímica (AAIFQ) and the Sociedad Iberoamericana de Electroquímica (SIBAE).
