Mikel Aickin received his Ph.D. degree in biomathematics from the University of Washington, Wash, USA, in 1976. He is a Research Professor in family and community medicine at the University of Arizona. Formerly, he was a Senior Investigator at Kaiser Permanente Center for Health Research, the Director of Biometry at Arizona Cancer Center and University Medical Center, University of Arizona, and biostatistician at the Department of Health Services, State of Arizona. His current interests include application of dynamic systems to patient-intensive biomedical research and comparative effectiveness research with an emphasis on complementary and alternative medicine.
