Kazunari Kaneko is a Professor at the Department of Pediatrics, Kansai Medical University, Osaka, Japan. He graduated from the School of Medicine, Niigata University, Niigata, Japan, in 1984, and completed a training program of pediatrics at the Juntendo University Hospital, Tokyo, Japan, in 1985. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in medical science from the Juntendo University in 1989. He worked as a Research Fellow in the field of the kidney diseases associated with systemic vasculitides at the Institute of Child Health, London during 1990-1991. He was a recipient of the Lilly Fellowship, honoring the excellent educational technique in pediatrics in 2004. Professor Kaneko is a Pediatric Nephrologist (an Executive Board Member of the Japanese Society for Pediatric Nephrology) and a leading scientist in clinical studies in Japan especially for electrolyte disorders and idiopathic nephritic syndrome in children. He also conducted basic research in regard to the investigation of the role of nitric oxide and reactive oxygen species in diverse kidney diseases including idiopathic nephritic syndrome and hemolytic uremic syndrome.
