Uwe Deppenmeier has various professional experience. Since 2007, he has been a Professor at Institute of Microbiology and Biotechnology, University of Bonn, Germany. Between 2003 and 2007, he served as an Associate Professor at the Department of Biological Sciences, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, USA. From 2000 till 2003, Deppenmeier worked as an Assistant Professor, Department of Microbiology, University of Göttingen, Germany. In the period 1992–2000, he occupied the position of the Research Assistant Professor at the University of Göttingen as well. He was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics, UCLA, USA (1991-1992). He gained his B.A. degree (1988) in biology from the University of Göttingen, then received the Ph.D. degree (1991) in microbiology from the same university. In addition, Professor Deppenmeier received several honors and awards, for example, Habilitation in microbiology, University of Göttingen, German National Science Foundation Habilitation Fellowship, and German National Science Foundation Postdoctoral Fellowship, in 1999, 1993, and 1991, respectively.
