Chris Flynn

Chris Flynn obtained his Ph.D. degree from Mount Stromlo in Australia in 1989, and worked subsequently at the Astronomisches-Rechen Institute in Heidelberg, in Denmark at the Niels Bohr Institute and NORDITA and in the USA at Princeton before settling in Finland in 1999 where he has a permanent position at Tuorla Observatory. He served as Director in 2000-2001, and as an Academy of Finland Senior Fellow in 2002-2007. His work has centered on measuring the mass of the Milky Way galaxy and properties of its stellar content, its dark matter content and more recently its chemical evolution.
