Wee Chew graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Ph.D. degree in chemical engineering in 2004. Since 2003, he has been participating and leading research projects at the Institute of Chemical and Engineering Sciences (ICES), a Singapore national research institute under A*STAR. His research areas comprises of implementing advanced analytical techniques (e.g., in situ Raman and FTIR spectroscopies, FTIR and Raman microspectroscopic imaging, etc.) and developing novel multivariate chemometrics analyses (hierarchical clustering, curve resolution, information-theoretic approaches, etc.) to varied applications that include process monitoring, process development, chemical reaction kinetics and mechanistic studies, biological cells imaging and cancer biopsy microspectroscopic image/ mapping hyperspectral pattern recognition. He is currently leading Process Analytical Technology (PAT) related endeavors at the ICES Process Development Lab and Kilo-Lab, and recently implemented an integrated SCADA control system with the Siemens SIPAT software technology for hybrid (batch and continuous) primary manufacturing processing capabilities.
