Peter Athanas currently works as a Professor at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Dr. Athanas graduated from University of Toledo in 1983. He has obtained his Master of Science degree in electrical engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (Hartford) and Applied Mathematics at Brown University in 1986 and 1990, respectively. Furthermore he was awarded his Doctor of Philosophy degree at Brown University in 1992. In 2003, he has been named as Bioinformatics Fellow to work on computing machinery and networks issues at the Virginia Bioinformatics Institute. His research interests are configurable computing, computer architecture, and computer-aided design.
