Prof MingHao Zhao received his Bachelor degree from Department of Mathematics and Mechanics of Lanzhou University in 1984, his Master degree from Zhengzhou Research Institute of Mechanical Engineering (ZRIME) of the Ministry of Machinery Building Industry of China in 1987, his Ph.D degree from Department of Mechanics of Lanzhou University in 1995, respectively. He worked at ZRIME during 1987-1995 and 1997-1999 as an Engineer and Senior Engineer, respectively, at Xian Jiaotong University during 1995-1997 as a postdoctoral fellow, and at Hongkong University of Science and Technology during 1999-2002 as a visiting scholar. He has been working for the Department of Engineering Mechanics, as the Specially Appointed Professor of Henan Province. He is now the Dean of the School of Mechanical Engineering, Zhengzhou University. His current research areas include mechanical properties of thin films, micro/nano mechanics, fatigue and fracture of materials and structures, and numerical methods in engineering. The honors he has received include the State Natural Science Award in Mainland China (2007), the Award of Science and Technical Progress of the Ministry of Machinery Building Industry of China (1999), the Award of Science and Technology of Education Ministry of China (2001), and the Award of Excellent Youth Foundation of Henan Province of China (2001).
