Sean R. Shieh0000-0001-7573-3039
Dr. Sean Shieh is currently an Associate Professor of Earth Sciences at the University of Western Ontario. He earned his PhD degree from University of Hawaii in 1998 and later, he joined Carnegie Institution of Washington and Princeton University as a postdoctoral fellow and research associate. His research focuses on the characterizations of Earth and planetary materials using synchrotron x-ray, Raman and infrared spectroscopy. Current interests include structure, elasticity and phase transition of spinel at mantle conditions; strength and elasticity of silicates, oxides and planetary materials at extreme conditions; structure and elasticity of perovskite and post-perovskite phase; spectroscopy, effects and stability of volatile phases at extreme conditions.
