Maria Teresa Valenti

Maria Teresa Valenti was born in Vittoria, Italy, in 1969. She received the Biologic Sciences degree and the postgraduate specialization in biochemistry and clinic chemistry from the University of Padua, Italy, in 1993 and 1998, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree in chronic and degenerative diseases from the University of Verona, Italy, in 2006. From 1993 to 1994, she joined the laboratory of the Genetic Institute of Medical Clinic, University of Pedua. From 1995 to 1996, she had a CNR scholarship at the General Pathologic Institute of the Biomedical Science Department at University of Pedua (Professor S. Schiaffino) for a search project regarding the molecular biology in the muscular physiopathology of the rat. From 1996 to 2006, she was a Research Fellow at the Department of Oncology and Oncological Hematology of Mirano, Italy. From November 1997 to February 1998, she was Socrates Scholarship fellow at the Oncology Faculty of Bergen University directed by Professor Dagfin Ogreid. Since 2006, she has been serving as an Assistant Researcher at the Department of Medicine in the University of Verona. She is mainly interested in molecular biology and cellular mechanism analyses in the field of degenerative diseases: cancer, skeletal diseases, and mesenchymal stem cells disorders. She received various prizes for scientific communications, and she has been involved in many research projects related to cancer and mesenchymal stem cells.
